Električna mobilnost spreminja design avtomobilov prihodnosti. Marc Lichte, vodja designa pri znamki Audi, na primeru konceptnega vozila Audi Q4 e-tron predstavi ključne značilnosti zunanjega designa modela Audi e-tron.

"To je najvznemirljivejši čas za oblikovalce avtomobilov. Zdaj je najboljši čas, da razmislimo o designu avtomobilov in ga ponovno ustvarimo – na kratko: da avtomobil ponesemo v prihodnost. To nam omogoča transformacija električne mobilnosti. Osredotočamo se na stranke in njihove želje. Čemu je vozilo namenjeno? Daljšim vožnjam, vožnji po mestu, za prosti čas? Kakšna naj bo notranjost? Ali želim v njej delati, brati ali spati? Na koncu pa oblikovalci ustvarimo zunanjost."

"Sorazmerja tvorijo osnovo vsakega dobrega designa. Tehnična platforma za električne avtomobile nam, oblikovalcem, omogoča, da ustvarimo sorazmerja, o katerih smo dolgo sanjali. Elektromotor koncepta Audi Q4 e-tron je nameščen na premah, baterija pa na dnu vmes. Potniška kabina na sredini je večja in pomika večja kolesa (potrebno zaradi mase vozila) navzven. A-stebriček se pomika precej bolj naprej, saj pod pokrovom ni več motorja. Ogromna medosna razdalja, ogromna kolesa, majhni previsi: ta povsem nova sorazmerja določajo edinstveni značaj električnih vozil.

"Enodelni okvir mreža hladilnika na sprednjem delu vozila je prepoznavna značilnost znamke Audi. Koncept Audi Q4 e-tron poleg tega poudarja kot obraz v množici. Enodelni okvir mreže hladilnika povezuje zgornji in spodnji hladilnik ter tako oblikuje eno enoto. Toda kaj naj storimo zdaj, ko električno vozilo nima več hladilnika? Kako naj ponazorimo, da je pred vami električno vozilo, a kljub temu še vedno Audi? Moja skupina se je domislila ideje, ki je preprosta, a hkrati praktična: Audi z motorjem z notranjim zgorevanjem ima vedno črn enodelni okvir mreže hladilnika, ki je odprt in zrači hladilnik za njim. Na modelu Audi e-tron je enodelni okvir mreže hladilnika optično obrnjen, vedno enake barve kot vozilo in obdan z elementi temne barve. Tako lahko že na daleč opazite, da gre za Audi, toda električni. Enodelni okvir mreže hladilnika Audiju dovoljuje, da je Audi. Celo električni Audi."
"Vsak od naših designov mora najprej in predvsem izražati prezenco: glej, Audi. Toda tudi električni avto mora jasno reči: glej, prihodnost. In prihodnost je digitalizacija – enako kot luči modela Audi e-tron. Produkcijska različica koncepta Audi Q4 e-tron je, na primer, opremljena z digitalnimi dnevnimi lučmi. Odlična stvar pri tem je, da lahko vsak zase individualno oblikuje grafično podobo digitalnih dnevnih luči. Nekomu so morda všeč trije znaki X v silhueti luči, medtem ko je nekomu drugemu bolj všeč vodoravna črta. Ne gre zgolj za personalizacijo, predvsem gre za digitalizacijo, ki smo jo naredili vidno. Ni treba posebej omenjati, da to ne velja le za sprednje žaromete, ampak tudi za zadnje luči, ki so poleg tega povezane z animiranim svetlobnim pasom."

The flight module accurately placed a passenger capsule on the ground module, which then drove from the test grounds autonomously. This proved the effectiveness of the Airbus coupling system and its locking and latching functionality. The air module currently rests on legs to make docking easier, but it’s envisaged that such legs would not be required by the time the concept reaches production.
To make the project with full-sized versions viable, more powerful batteries than those that exist today would be required, and Airbus is currently working on developing such technology. Noise is another issue, and reduction of the high-pitched whirring familiar to anyone who has witnessed even a small drone in flight is being sought. Italdesign is working with Audi to develop battery and electric-motor technology for the ground module – an area in which Audi’s engineers have already proven highly competent, as the recent launch of the e-tron SUV testifies. Therefor an Audi engineer is also based with the Italdesign team in Italy.

"Ko govorimo o električni mobilnosti, osrednji del vozila ne predstavlja več motor pod pokrovom, ampak baterija v dnu vozila. Kakšna je njena kapaciteta? Koliko tehta? Kakšen doseg ima? Zato ima koncept Audi Q4 e-tron ekspresivno oblikovane pragove, ki jasno ponazarjajo mesto vgradnje najpomembnejšega dela vozila. Sprednji pokrov modela Audi e-tron ima precej bolj umirjen design. Pokrov z izrazito izboklino, t. i. power dome, je stvar preteklosti."
"Za Audi z motorjem z notranjim zgorevanjem je značilen design s številnimi ostrimi robovi. Modele Audi e-tron prihodnosti po drugi strani zaznamujejo nežnejše in bolj definirane mišice. Z designom vozil lahko tako poudarimo evolucijo pogonskih sistemov. Ramensko linijo, ki je desetletja tekla po višini, smo prekinili na sredini stranskega dela vozila in jo pomaknili navzdol. Mišičasto silhueto vozila smo na sprednjem in zadnjem delu ter s tem na vseh štirih kolesih poudarili z nežnimi linijami. Vse to spominja na pogon quattro, ki je globoko zakoreninjen v genskem zapisu znamke Audi. Audi e-tron lahko namreč uporablja tudi štirikolesni pogon."

"Ni zgolj napredni design tisti, ki je globoko zakoreninjen v znamki Audi, enako velja tudi za napreden način razmišljanja, ko gre za trajnostnost. Ni treba posebej poudarjati, da so vsi Audijevi modeli oblikovani v vetrovniku, da so čim bolj učinkoviti. Zaradi manjšega zračnega upora je za pogon potrebno manj virov energije. Zato se skrbno osredotočamo na aerodinamični design vseh naših modelov Audi e-tron. Pri električnih vozilih lahko aerodinamika – skupaj s številnimi drugimi dejavniki – poveča doseg.
